One of the most prolific wide receivers in Evangel football history Anthony Ray was a four-time All-Heart of America Athletic Conference selection. He earned All-District 16 honors in 1989 and again in 1990 and 91 joining the First Team. His all-conference selections saw him honored all four seasons as both a wide receiver and kick returner being named first-team three times at receiver.
Ray led the Crusaders in receiving during the 1989, 90, and 91 seasons, in scoring in '89 and '90, and in kickoff returns in '89, '90, and '91. His 13 touchdowns in 1990 rank second-most in a single-season, while his 965 receiving yards in 1990 ranks sixth and his 933 yards in 1989 ranks seventh.
He quickly made his mark in the Evangel record books breaking the single-game touchdown record with four scores against Culver-Stockton in 1989. He also set the single-game record for most receiving yards in a game against William Jewell in 1990.
He holds three career Evangel records including most all-time yards receiving (2,719) and most yards per game (75.5). He ranks seventh in total touchdowns, second in most receiving touchdowns, fourth in total catches, third in all-purpose yards, fourth in kickoff returns, and fourth in kickoff return yards.
