DUBUQUE, Iowa. – The Valor took on the Pride of Clarke in the Heart of America Conference Quarterfinals on Saturday morning to determine who would move to the next round of the tournament. Unfortunately for the Valor, Clarke would come out swinging and would take the game from EU in three straight sets.

In the first set, EU could never grab a lead after scoring the first point of the set. Clarke would go on small runs to keep the set out of reach for the Valor. Down 15-21, EU would go on a 6-1 run to trail 21-22, but Clarke would cap off the set with a 3-0 run of their own, to claim the set 21-25. The second set was very similar to the first set for the Valor as EU could never grab a lead. Every run that EU would go on was quickly countered by Clarke. Amber Cooksley fueled Clarke in the first and second set, swinging .300, and pushing Clarke to another 21-25 set win. The third set looked to be where the Valor would turn the tide. EU would push out to a 13-6 lead and it looked as if the Valor had life. Unfortunately, Clarke would not be stopped easily. An 8-3 run for the Pride would cut the lead for EU and would be followed by another Pride run of 7-4 to put the game at 20-21, in favor of Clarke. EU would try to fight back with the next few points, but the damage had been done, as Clarke would walk away with a victory in three straight sets.

• Tori Lowry led the Valor in kills with 9.

• Sydney Dunavant led EU in assists with 19 in the matchup.

• Eryn Russell led the team with 20 digs this morning.

• EU could only muster a .177 attacking percentage to Clarke's .209.

• Clarke took the block advantage from EU, 6-3.
