MCPHERSON, Kan. – Evangel Volleyball returned to action on Friday (Nov. 14) afternoon, taking on the two-seeded Bethel College Threshers in the KCAC Conference Tournament Semifinals. Although EU would take the first set, Bethel was able to take the following three, forcing the Valor to fall in four sets, 3-1.

Evangel would lead for the majority of the first set, as Charlotte Hawkins started off hot offensively. EU would take a 22-19 lead before Bethel tied the score up at 22-22. After Coach Whitehead called timeout, kills from Hawkins and Simone Johnson, paired with a Thresher attacking error gave EU a 25-22 win in set one.

Both teams traded the lead to open set two, but a key 6-0 Bethel run proved to be the difference as trailing 7-6, the would take a 12-7 lead over EU. The Valor offense could not generate a run to come back in the set, falling 25-17.

The Valor led 4-3 in the third set, but the Threshers would grab a lead that they would not relinquish. The EU offense swung their lowest percentage of the evening, hitting seven kills and seven errors in the set, while Bethel's 18 kills gave EU their second set loss of the evening, 25-18.

In the final set of play, Evangel trailed 13-10, but a 6-0 run with kills coming from several different players helped EU capture a 16-13 lead. Bethel would fight back, and the game would end up sitting in a 22-22 tie. The Threshers closed out the set on a 3-0 run, forcing EU to fall 25-22 and close their conference tournament run in the semifinals.
