CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Valor faced off with the Mustangs of Mount Mercy on Saturday afternoon, looking to extend their winning streak to three games. By the time the final ball hit the floor, EU would claim a sweep against Mount Mercy, moving their record to 17-10.
EU came out firing to begin the game on Saturday, never once trailing in the first set due to efficient attacking and mistakes made by the opposing team. Bridget Petersen would score the set-claiming point off a nice feed from Jorden Stacey to take the set, 25-18. In set two, the Valor would continue their good attacking with Mount Mercy making the game close by eliminating their mistakes. With the score at 9-9, the Valor would go on a 14-7 run to take the second set, 25-16. In the third and final set, the Valor would have to prove that they could fight from behind. Down 10-16, the Valor would go on a 15-7 run to show their toughness and take the final set, 25-23.
"The North Crossover matches are huge for postseason placement so this weekend was big for us," Valor head coach Mary Whitehead stated, "We are hitting our stride at the right time of year and hope to keep that momentum going!".
