DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Valor took on the Pride of Clarke on Friday night and showed their toughness, losing the first set, but coming back and taking the final three to defeat Clarke, 3-1.
EU started off slow on Friday, as Clarke would take a lead and never look back, thanks to a .250 attacking percentage by the Pride compared to the Valor's .000 in the first set. In the second set, the Valor showed their toughness. All knotted up at 8-8, the Valor would use three 4-0 runs to take the second set, 25-14. The third set saw EU only trail once at the beginning of the set, as good attacking would be complemented by excellent EU defense at the net to give the Valor the win, 25-18. In the fourth and final set, EU would continue to fight tough, taking away any comeback opportunity Clarke may have had as the Valor finished the game off with a Bridget Petersen kill to make it 25-20.
