MARSHALL, Mo. – Evangel extended its season-best win streak to six matches with a four-set victory over Missouri Valley Saturday afternoon at the Burns Athletic Center.

The Crusaders (10-1, 8-1) rallied from a first-set deficit with the help of a 15-3 spurt, as Tori Lowry recorded four of her game-high 13 kills and hit 0.571 in the set to give EU the early lead.

EU followed a similar script in the second stanza, using an 11-6 run midway through to establish a comfortable cushion. Gabby Massengale led the way with five kills in the game, including a key block late that helped fuel the Crusaders finish after the Vikings had closed to within 21-20.

MVC took control of the third set by establishing an early five-point lead, only to see the Crusaders climb back into the set and even the score at 12-12 by winning nine of 13 points.

But it would be all Vikings from that point, with the home team claiming 13 of the final 15 points to take their only set of the day after EU committed 12 errors and hit -0.064 for the game.

In the fourth and final game, Evangel rebounded to win five of the first six points behind the serving of Sydney Dunavant, who recorded a pair of aces in the set. EU responded to a 6-2 MVC run by winning five of the next seven points, then closed out the 25-22 win to lock up the match.

Lowry saved her best for last, delivering five kills and a block in the final set. The junior registered her sixth-straight double-double with 13 kills and 10 digs, while Massengale finished with 10 kills and hit 0.450 for the match.
