PARKVILLE, Mo. – After taking on the 11th ranked team in the nation, Evangel traveled to Parkville to take on the 14th ranked team in the nation, the Pirates of Park. The Valor hung tough and improved over every set, but ultimately fell in straight sets, 3-0.

The Pirate offense was efficient all night against the Valor, never hitting below .400 in a set. In set one, Park was able to get out to an early 5-0 lead, hurting Evangel's chances in the set. Thanks to kills by Bella Wakley and Sharayah Seymour, Evangel was able to come as close as a two point deficit to the nationally ranked Pirates, but fell short after a Park run to end the set, 25-13.

Park again raced out to a fast start in set two, taking an early 13-4 lead. The Valor were able to slowly battle back, but never threatened the Park lead in set two as the Pirates hit a game high .438 attacking percentage to take a two set lead, 25-15. 

In Evangel's final set, the Valor again found themselves in an early hole. Although down 19-10 at one point, the Valor showed tenacity and fight, slightly narrowing the deficit against the nationally ranked team, thanks to kills from several different Evangel attackers. When the final point had been scored, the Valor had fallen, 25-19.

HIGHLIGHTS

• Tori Lowry finished with eight kills to lead the Valor attack.

• Eryn Russell added 12 digs to her season total, leading Evangel in the category.

• Leah Jackson finished with 16 assists for the Valor, leading the team.

UP NEXT

Evangel will kick off a four game home stand on Friday (Oct. 21) night at 6:00 p.m. against the Mustangs of Mount Mercy.
