SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel softball team rallied back to earn a split Saturday afternoon against Oklahoma Wesleyan with a 4-3 win after falling 10-6 in the non-conference double-header.

Game 1
Evangel fell behind early as a four-run second inning by the Eagles put the Crusaders looking up all game.

The Crusaders did manage to tie the game in the bottom of the third inning after Ashlie Marshall led off with a single and scored on the next batter thanks to a throwing error. However, Oklahoma Wesleyan added three runs in the fourth and fifth innings to build a 10-4 lead.

Evangel would attempt to rally back in the fifth inning after a Kristyn Stocks single, AJ Carpenter doubled her home. Carpenter would score on a two-out single by Cayleigh Berry later in the inning but it wouldn't be enough.

Kami Holt went 4 for 4 with an RBI as both teams finished with 13 hits each. Holt joined Carpenter and Stocks with a double as the Crusaders' Achilles came when they were unable to score runners leaving seven on base.

Samantha Romano was tagged with the loss as she came on in the second inning and scattered six hits, however, an error allowed two runs to cross.

Game 2
Evangel jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first inning after Oklahoma Wesleyan had scored a run in the top of the inning.

A squeeze bunt by Josie Allcock scored Kami Holt for the first run for the Crusaders. The next batter Marissa Lokey doubled home Allcock before AJ Carpenter would single home Lokey to give Evangel a 3-1 lead.

Bridget Rippe was solid in the circle for the Crusaders going the distance for her third win of the season and improving to 3-0. Rippe allowed just three runs and struck out two as she scattered six hits.
