WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Evangel Softball took on the top-seeded Southeastern Fire on Wednesday (May 13) morning, needing a win to advance to the opening round championship game for the first time in program history.
The Valor and Fire would battle throughout the start of the game, as neither team was able to break through early, but in the fourth inning, the home Fire scored three runs, which proved to be enough, as Evangel was unable to rally late, falling 5-1 to close out their historic 2026 campaign.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Evangel and Southeastern played a scoreless first three innings on Wednesday, as neither team was able to break through on the scoreboard early on.

The Valor were able to record a pair of early outs in the fourth inning, but the Fire were able to rally, scoring three runs to take a 3-0 lead.

Southeastern added a pair in the bottom of the sixth to extend their lead to 5-0 over Evangel.

The Valor attempted a late rally in the top of the seventh, as Kaylee Dolores, Camryn Casey, and Karli Facklam all singled with one out to load the bases. Danielle Cutbirth would hit a sacrifice fly to score Dolores, making it a 5-1 game before Kenna Mayfield singled to re-load the bases with two outs. Evangel was unfortunately unable to keep the rally going, falling 5-1 to close the 2026 season in Florida.

Karli Facklam and Kaylee Dolores led Evangel at the plate on Wednesday, both going 2-3, while Danielle Cutbirth earned the only RBI for EU.
