PARKVILLE, Mo. – The Evangel volleyball team gave Heart Conference-leading Park University all it wanted Wednesday evening, but the Pirates withstood the Crusaders' challenge in three tight sets (17-25, 23-25, 20-25) to remain unbeaten on the season.

Evangel gave the Pirates a stiff challenge in each of the three sets, only to come up on the short end in each game. In a back-and-forth first stanza, EU pulled to within 19-17 on a Pirate error, but a kill by Nada Meawad spark a 6-0 Park run to close out a 25-17 victory for the home squad, which hit 0.467 as a team during the set.

The Crusaders jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the second thanks to kills by Ciera Reyes and Tori Lowry. Park battled back to claim the lead, and the two clubs traded blows throughout the set. EU pulled even at 22-22 with a 3-0 run keyed by a Regan Ansley kill.

But the Pirates responded once again, this time claiming three of the final four points of the game behind kills from Nada and Noura Meawad to take a commanding two-set lead.

Evangel seized an early 6-3 lead in the third set behind Lowry's three kills. Park answered by claiming six of the next seven points to gain the upper hand. Lowry continued to power the EU attack during a 5-0 spurt, and the Crusaders led 17-15 late in the set before a Noura Meawad kill and a pair of errors gave the Pirates the lead once again.

After EU pulled even at 19-19 on another Lowry kill, Park put the finishing touches on the match by taking the next four points. Noura Meawad then closed out the set with a service ace.

Lowry led EU with 14 kills, while Ansley added 10 for the Crusaders.

Park registered an attack efficiency of 0.270 for the match, as Nada Meawad recorded a match-high 22 kills on 0.455 hitting.
