SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The 13th-ranked Evangel Softball program hits the road to take on a pair of KCAC opponents on Thursday and Friday (Apr. 2/3), looking to remain perfect in conference play.
The Valor will take on Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kan., on Thursday, with their doubleheader beginning at 2:00 p.m., before taking on the Sterling Warriors on Friday in Sterling, Kan., with first pitch set for 1:00 p.m.
SERIES HISTORY
Evangel leads both Saint Mary and Sterling, 15-4 and 4-1, in the all-time matchup, respectively. The Valor were swept last season at Saint Mary, 1-0 and 8-4, and split their series with Sterling last year, 12-5 (win) and 7-4 (loss in 9 inn.).
OPENING STORYLINES

Kenna Mayfield currently leads Evangel in most offensive categories, swinging a .432 bat while also stealing 39 bases (4th most in nation) and scoring 34 runs.

Naomi Perkins has also swung well to start the season, recording a .396 batting average.

Audrey Carlton leads Evangel in RBIs so far this year, currently with 27.

Maddy Meierer leads Evangel with a 1.09 ERA, having gone 16-1 so far this season from the circle with 105 strikeouts.

Madi Bentley has shined in conference play so far this season, currently with a 0.92 ERA in KCAC games, allowing opponents just a .106 batting average.

The Valor offense currently bats .311 this season as a team with 16 home runs and 182 RBIs. EU has also already taken 128 stolen bases as a team, the second highest mark in the nation.

Evangel Softball returns home to host the Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles on Tuesday (Apr. 7) afternoon with first pitch scheduled for 2:00 p.m. in Springfield.
