PARKVILLE, Mo. – Valor Baseball continued their road trip on Saturday, opening a four game series with the Park Pirates in Parkville, Mo., looking to grab a pair of wins.
Evangel faced off against exceptional starting pitching in game one, as the Valor were unable to generate much offense, falling 3-1. In game two, Evangel was able to fight back after initially losing the lead, but fell on a walk-off home run from Park, 6-5.
HIGHLIGHTS

Athanie Leeviraphan went 5-6 from the plate on Sunday, finishing with two doubles, an RBI, and a walk.

Jeremy Vickers also had a solid day at the plate for EU, finishing 3-6 with a run scored.
HOW IT HAPPENED

In game one, Evangel scored the first run of the game. In the top of the third, Vickers singled to right field and scored on a Leeviraphan double down the left field line, putting EU ahead, 1-0.

Park scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth and a run in the bottom of the sixth to take a 3-1 lead, as the Valor mustered just two hits after scoring their first run, falling 3-1 in game one.

Evangel generated two runs of offense to open game two. Brennan Espy walked and stole second base. Espy advanced to third on a Park error, followed by walks from Leeviraphan and Carson Sturdefant. An Eli Cook single down the right field line with two outs scored Sturdefant and Leeviraphan, making it a 2-0 game, in favor of the Valor.

Leeviraphan singled to lead off the third inning and scored on a passed ball and error on the catcher, giving Evangel their third run of the game. Levi Loughridge followed the miscues up with a single and scored on a Cook double to center field, giving the Valor a 4-0 lead.

Park answered in the bottom of the fourth with four runs of their own, tying the game up at 4-4.

The Pirates took the lead in the bottom of the sixth on Evangel errors, scoring a run to make it 5-4.

Leeviraphan doubled to open the top of the seventh, advanced to second on a Sturdefant fly out and scored on a Loughridge sacrifice fly, tying the game up at 5-5. Evangel was able to get a runner in scoring position, but left him stranded in the top of the inning.

After recording an out to open the bottom of the seventh, Park hit a game winning home run, taking the 6-5 victory and game one sweep of Evangel.
