SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – On a busy home day for Evangel Athletics, Valor Baseball hosted Presentation on Saturday, looking for the sweep of the Saints after a dominant performance on Thursday. Exceptional starting pitching in game one and game two helped guide Evangel to the sweep, 6-0 and 3-2.
HIGHLIGHTS

Rolando Galvez pitched six innings of scoreless ball for the Valor in game one, fanning 10 Saints batters. Gardner came in and closed the door in the seventh, leading to EU's 6-0 victory.

Colby Vavruska gave up just one earned run in game two, striking out nine and allowing just four hits. Levi Loughridge earned his second save of the season, coming in and shutting down the Saints bats in the final inning and leaving the game tying run stranded at second.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Evangel and Presentation played 2 and a half innings of scoreless ball in game one before the Valor got on the board in the bottom of the third.

Parker Dinwiddie walked to lead off the inning with a Brooks Espy sacrifice bunt moved Dinwiddie to second. A Nathan Lamb double scored Dinwiddie and an Athanie Leeviraphan single scored Lamb. Leeviraphan stole third and scored on a ground out to give the Valor a 3-0 lead.

Evangel loaded the bases in the bottom of the fourth on singles by Loughridge, Carson Sturdefant, and Jeremy Vickers. A Dinwiddie groundout scored Loughridge, but the Valor were unable to do more damage in the inning, taking a 4-0 lead.

A Leeviraphan triple kicked off the bottom of the fifth inning and an Eli Cook single scored him to put EU ahead, 5-0. Loughridge was also scored in the inning on a Presentation error, giving Evangel a 6-0 lead that they kept to the finish.

Presentation opened game two with a quick score, taking an early 1-0 lead.

The Valor quickly responded with a run in the bottom of the second on a Sturdefant single and Vickers triple to tie the game up at 1-1.

Lamb scored in the bottom of the third on several Presentation miscues, pushing EU ahead, 2-1.

Presentation was able to tie the game up at two runs apiece in the top of the fourth.

Vickers scored the final run by both teams in the bottom of the fourth, again capitalizing on Presentation errors.

Presentation was able to get the leadoff batter on base to kick off the top of the seventh, but Loughridge pitched the Valor out of the jam, taking the 3-2 victory and sweep.

Lamb continues to lead the Valor offense, currently with a .522 batting average on the season.

Leeviraphan and Cook lead Evangel with 10 RBIs so far this season.
