PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Evangel men's and women's track and field teams kicked off the 2023 season with the NAIA/JUCO Challenge in Pittsburg, Kan., on Saturday (Jan. 21) evening.
The Valor competed well, with the men finishing with seven top five finishes and an overall fourth place finish, while the Valor women finished in 9th place with three top five finishes.
HIGHLIGHTS

Jacee Wilson had Evangel's lone first place finish on Saturday, hitting a 10.63m triple jump.

Delaney Weimer ran a 7.80 second 60 meter dash on Saturday, placing third overall.

Macy Kopp rounded out women's finishes, placing third in the 800m run with a time of 2:24.88.

The men's 4x800 meter relay team (Graham Miller, Elijah Saenz-Lopez, Isaiah Flores, Eric Patterson) ran a 8:41.45 on Saturday, ranking third overall.

Joshua Leazer ranked in the top five in two different events on Saturday, placing 2nd in the triple jump (13.74m) and 4th in the long jump (6.60m)

Matthew Kellerstrass recorded a long jump of 6.64m, good for a third place finish.

Alex Richardson hit a mark of 15.64m in the weight throw, placing third overall.

Liam Boivin ran a 8.52 second 60m hurdles on Saturday, ranking fourth overall.

Campbell Nichols rounded out top five finishes for the men on Saturday, placing fourth in the 600m run with a time of 1:24.75.

Evangel will travel to Warrensburg, Mo., next Saturday (Jan. 28) to compete in the UCM Mule Indoor Relays.
