PERU, Neb. – Valor Baseball continued their weekend doubleheader with Peru State on Saturday, looking to rebound from their previous day of losses. In game one, EU struggled to muster any offense and fell, 2-0. Evangel showed life on offense in game two, but could not slow down Peru State, falling 11-4, and giving the Bobcats the weekend sweep.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Athanie Leeviraphan doubled in the first inning of play against Peru State, but did not score as the Valor failed to get him home.

Noah Suiter recorded the final hit in game one in the second inning, as EU was no-hit for the remaining six innings of the ball game.

Peru scored their two runs of the game in the bottom of the first and maintained their lead to take the victory, 2-0.

The Valor generated offense in the first inning of game two, after Nathan Lamb, Leeviraphan and Suiter all singled. Suiter's single scored Mason Hansen, giving EU a 1-0 lead.

Not to be outdone, the Bobcats of Peru State scored five runs with two outs in the following half inning, after EU struggled to record the elusive third out.

Evangel chipped at Peru's lead after both Hansen and Leeviraphan singled to kick off the third inning. Hansen scored on a Dalton Cook sacrifice fly and Leeviraphan raced home on a Suiter single to trail, 5-3.

The Bobcats used a big fifth inning that consisted of five singles and four walks to add to their lead. By the time the dust had cleared, Peru led EU, 11-3.

The Valor were able to add another run to the scoring column when Grant Kosanke singled to score Parker Dinwiddie, who had singled to get on base.

Peru shut out Evangel in the seventh inning to preserve the 11-4 victory in their favor.
NOTABLE

Leeviraphan and Suiter were Evangel's bright spots on Saturday as they finished their afternoons 3-6 and 3-7 with two RBIs, respectively.

Austin Dill pitched well in game one, allowing just two runs to the Bobcats.
UP NEXT
Evangel will return home to host the Pirates of Park next Friday (Apr. 8) in a weekend doubleheader, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
