PARKVILLE, Mo. – Evangel's five-run, fourth-inning rally paved the way to a come-from-behind, 6-3 victory in game one of its Heart of America Athletic Conference doubleheader with Park, before Austin Dill shut down the Pirates in a 1-0, complete-game shutout in the night cap Saturday afternoon at Comfort Field.

EU rode a big game from Grant Kosanke to the game one win, before Dill blanked the Pirates on seven hits, striking out six batters to earn the victory in the second contest.

Game 1 – Evangel 6, Park 3

Evangel overcame a 3-0 deficit thanks to a five-run, fourth inning and the pitching of Bret Hoffman. Kosanke went 2-for-3 with a pair of run-scoring hits, while Hoffman tossed a complete game to earn the mound victory.

After Park forged its lead with a three-run third, EU batted around in the top of the fourth to turn the tables on the Pirates. Kosanke's RBI single opened the scoring, and Tyler Coffelt plated a second EU run with a sacrifice fly.

Next, Patrick Gaul delivered the key blow with a two-run double to left field that put the visitors on top to stay. A Pirate error moved Gaul to third, and Noah Suiter brought home the fifth run of the inning with a sac fly to center that gave EU a 5-3 edge.

Evangel tacked on an insurance run in the fifth, with Mason Hansen drawing a leadoff walk for the second-straight inning before stealing second. Kosanke came through once again, this time doubling to left with one out to extend the EU lead.

Hoffman (4-5) scattered eight hits and allowed just one earned run over his 7.0 innings, striking out a pair of Pirates to lock up the win.

In addition to Kosanke's effort, Hansen drew three walks, scored a pair of runs and stole a base to help spark the EU offense.

Game 2 – Evangel 1, Park 0
Gaul's leadoff double and steal of third base set the stage for the game's lone scoring rally in the top of the first. Jason Jarrell's fielder's choice grounder to short brought Gaul home for the only run of the game, and Dill made the lead stand with his second career shutout.

EU managed just three hits in the game, but Hansen reached base safely in all three of his trips to the plate, going 1-for-1 with two walks.

Dill (6-4) struck out six Pirates and worked around hits in six of the seven innings, including a two-on, one-out jam in the seventh. The junior right-hander struck out Davisai Pizarro and CJ Fernelius to strand the potential tying and go-ahead runners on base to end the contest.

Park's Dylan Govin suffered the tough-luck loss, despite allowing just one run on three hits in a complete-game effort.
