SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel baseball team rallied back for a split against Clarke on Friday afternoon 4-2 after falling 5-0 in game one of a Heart Conference double-header.

Game 1
A pitcher's duel saw the Clarke Pride's Jakob Kirman edge the Crusaders' Bret Hoffman in a 5-0 setback for Evangel.

Hoffman allowed just four hits but three Evangel errors helped Clarke plate four runs in the bottom of the second inning. Clarke played as the home team in both games after the series was originally scheduled to be played in Dubuque, Iowa.

Hoffman lost for just the second time this season as he was charged with just two of the five runs. The senior struck out two and walked two in the loss.

Offensively, Evangel managed just three hits with one each from Patrick Gaul, Jordan Yates, and Grant Kosanke. Kosanke and Yates both doubled as Gaul earned a hit in both games to extend his hit streak to 14-games.

Game 2

In game two, Evangel broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the fourth inning on a Jordan Yates triple. Yates' triple cleared the bases scoring Nathan Lamb who was hit by a pitch and Gaul who walked giving Evangel a 4-2 lead.

Yates finished 2 for 4 with three RBIs after an RBI groundout in the second inning. Jason Jarrell also recorded a pair of hits going 2 for 3, while Gaul's hit in game two moved his aforementioned hit streak to 14 games.

Levi Loughridge scattered six hits and allowed just the two runs with only one earned in his first win of the season. Loughridge tallied five strikeouts and walked just two.
