SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel softball team finished 2-1 on Saturday as host of the Queen City Bash. The Crusaders took run-rule wins over Lindenwood-Belleville before a near-upset of No. 16 Columbia College.

Game 1
Evangel scored in nearly every inning in the first game taking a 13-0 win over Lindenwood-Belleville. Four Crusaders belted triples and Kami Holt and Josie Allcock both belted doubles to help Evangel finish with 20 hits.

As a team, Evangel was eight hits shy of a school record and also one triple shy of a single-game record.

Individually, Kristyn Stocks, Marissa Lokey, and Allcock all finished 3 for 5 with two RBIs, while Ashlie Marshall went 4 for 4.

In the circle, Bridget Rippe was solid allowing just three hits and no runs with a strikeout. Rippe earned her first win of the season with the shutout.

Game 2

The second run rule over the Lynx came as Evangel scored 15 of its 16 runs in the final three innings. The Crusaders plated five runs in the sixth inning to put the run rule in effect after six runs in the fifth and four runs in the fourth.

Six extra-base hits including three doubles from Josie Allcock helped lead the Crusaders offensively. Allcock went 4 for 5 with three RBIs, while Kami Holt was 2 for 4 with five RBIs.

AJ Carpenter, Kristyn Stocks, and Marissa Lokey all tallied multiple hits as well.

Samantha Romano earned her first win as she tossed 4.2 innings in relief with two strikeouts. Romano scattered seven hits and was charged with one earned run after starter Emma Hill pitched 1.1 innings.

Game 3

A late rally from the No. 16 Columbia Cougars kept Evangel from an early-season upset of the undefeated Cougars.

Evangel jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning before Columbia tied the game in the second.

Kami Holt belted a grand slam to left in the fourth inning to push the Evangel lead to 5-1. Holt finished 3 for 4 with two runs, while Josie Allcock went 2 for 4 with an RBI.

A pair of home runs in the fifth and sixth innings gave Columbia the lead back before Evangel started a seventh-inning rally. The Crusaders pushed one run across in the top of the seventh but was unable to finish its comeback.

Abby Emmitt went five innings and scattered six hits as she earned the loss. Bridget Rippe pitched the sixth as Columbia added three more runs on the reliever.
