BARTLESVILLE, Okla. — The Evangel softball team got plenty of offense in game one before a solid pitching performance helped with a double-header sweep at Oklahoma Wesleyan on Saturday.

Game One
Evangel jumped out to an early lead with a 10-run first inning. AJ Carpenter highlighted the inning with a pair of doubles as she finished 3 for 3 with five RBIs and two runs scored.

The Crusaders would add two more insurance runs in the second inning to build a 12-0 lead.

Allison Davis, Ali Raley, Michelle Sheppard, and Hailey Lange also finished with multiple hits in the run-rule victory.

Bridget Rippe rebounded in the circle to earn the win scattering seven hits and allowing just one run coming in the bottom of the fifth inning. Rippe also struck out two and walked just two in the victory.

Game Two

The second game saw starting pitcher Emma Hill hold Oklahoma Wesleyan to just one hit through the first four innings. Hill earned her first win of the season tossing a five-hit shutout with two strikeouts and just one walk.

The offense for Evangel came by way of a leadoff hit from Michelle Sheppard who would score on a Hailey Lange single in the first inning. An RBI from Kami Holt one batter later scored AJ Carpenter to give the Crusaders a 2-0 lead that would hold through the next six innings.

The Crusaders added three more insurance runs in the top of the seventh inning thanks in part to a triple from Michelle Sheppard. Sheppard and Lange finished with a pair of hits each to record four of Evangel's six hits in the win.

Whitney Degonia added a pair of RBIs to finish 1 for 3 with a run scored to help highlight the Evangel offense.
