MARSHALL, Mo. – The Evangel baseball team held off Missouri Valley Saturday to earn a road sweep with a 2-1 win in game one and a 6-3 victory in the nightcap.

Game One
The first game saw both starting pitchers battle through the first four innings before Evangel took a 2-0 lead in the fifth. Missouri Valley would answer with a run in the bottom of the inning, however, the Crusaders locked in to take a 2-1 win.

Derek Kennell got the complete game victory allowing just four hits and striking out a career-high 12. Kennell walked just two while allowing the one run by the Vikings.

Dustin Hargus was 1-for-3 with the lone RBI for Evangel as Tanner McVey and Jose Vargas each finished 2-for-3 in the win.

Game Two
Evangel jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the top of the first inning and held off a late rally by Missouri Valley.

A double from Dustin Hargus scored Patrick Gaul and Jordan Yates to start the scoring. The next batter, Dylan Bradshaw busted the game open with a three-run home run to left.

After Missouri Valley added a run in the bottom of the first inning, Evangel answered with a run in the top of the fourth inning.

Harrison Stevens tallied two of Evangel's eight hits in the win.

Bret Hoffman earned the win going 4.1 innings and scattering six hits. Camden Burns tossed the final 2.2 innings and allowed just two hits and no runs while striking out two.

Up Next
Evangel closes out the regular season against South Division leaders Central Methodist. First pitch of both Friday and Saturday's double-headers are scheduled for 1 p.m.
