Crusaders lose to Williams Baptist, second game rained out

Springfield, Mo. – Evangel softball lost their last non-conference game of the year on Tuesday losing game one of a planned doubleheader 8-2 to Williams Baptist (Ark.). Game two was called due to inclement weather.

Williams Baptist used four singles in the top of the first inning to take a 3-0 lead over Evangel. Kiara Carrier would pull a run back for the Crusaders with solo home run in the bottom of the second but the Eagles would get the run back in the top of the third and put the game out of reach with three in the top of the fourth taking advantage of two Crusaders errors.

Game two was tied 1-1 in the top of the third inning before being delayed due to lightning, then cancelled thirty minutes later due to heavy rain.

With the loss Evangel dropped to 28-11. Williams Baptist improved to 29-18.

Evangel returns to conference action on Wednesday, April 27 when they host MidAmerica Nazarene for Senior Appreciation Day. Game time is scheduled for 2:00pm.
