Kansas City, Mo. – Evangel scored just two runs in both games at Central Methodist on Saturday as they were swept in a doubleheader 3-2 and 6-2 in Fayette, Missouri.
Avila blew open a 3-2 lead scoring three runs in the third then six runs in the fourth on their way to a 12-6 win in game one. Stevin Cisneros went 2 for 4 at the plate for Evangel with two runs scored. Evangel pitching walked 10 batters in the seven inning game. Eagles' hitters Troy Prasertsit and Danny Kralicek each had three RBI's in the game.
Trailing 3-0 after two innings in the second game, Evangel pulled within a run of the lead scoring a pair of runs in the fourth on a two-RBI single by Tanner Smith. Avila responded with four runs on five hits in the bottom half of the same inning. Darin Francis went 2 for 3 at the plate for the Crusaders. Avila banged out 12 hits in the win while Anthony Biondo went 3 for 3 with two doubles and three RBI's.
The losses extended Evangel's losing streak to six games as they fell to 9-24 and 1-11 in the Heart of America conference. Avila improved to 17-17 and 8-4 in the league.
The four game series continues tomorrow at Avila with a doubleheader starting a 1 p.m. in Kansas City, Missouri.
