Evangel Heads to #2 Baker for Regular Season Finale on ESPN3

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – The Evangel University football team will close out the 2016 regular season Saturday against No. 2 Baker on the Heart Game of the Week on ESPN3. 

Saturday's game will kickoff at 11 a.m. from Liston Stadium. Steven Davis is on the call for play-by-play while former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marc Boerigter provide color commentary. The game broadcast can be seen around the world on the Watch ESPN App and ESPN3 or locally on Mediacom 22. 

OPENING STORYLINES

► Evangel and Baker meet for the 29th time in program his with the Wildcats holding a 17-11 advantage in the all-time series. The Crusaders are 7-8 against Baker in home games and 4-9 in Kansas. Evangel had previously called JFK Stadium (1977-88 and 2001-15) their home stadium posting a 70-70-1 mark while also going 36-17 at Plaster Sports Complex. 

► Defensive end, Josh Evans (Pleasant Hope, Mo.) continues to make noise nationally ranking number one in forced fumbles and fourth in tackles for a loss with 19.The junior also ranks sixth in total sacks with 10.5 this season. 

► After leading the conference in tackles a year ago, senior linebacker Devon Overall (Monett, Mo.) has battled injuries and still produced high marks. Overall ranks 20th in NAIA in tackles (89) and fourth in the Heart. 

► Josh Evans is also making his mark on the Evangel record books. The junior broke the all-time tackles for a loss record currently with 42.5 tackles for a loss. He eclipsed Andrew Matrone (2006-09) and Barry Howard (1997-2000) who had previously held the record with 41. Evans also now holds the single-season record for tackles for a loss breaking a record he tied last year with 17 and surpassing Ell C. Teycer's mark from 2014. 

 ► Evans also broke into the all-time top 10 for sacks with 17 as he is tied for eighth with Richard George (1981-84). Jay Hellwig (1991-94) holds the all-time record with 45.5 sacks. His 10.5 sacks this season also ranks sixth in a single-season at Evangel. Below is a look at those ahead of Evans.

► Senior running back Cade Wilke is coming off his second 100-yard game of the year. Wilke rushed for a season-high 112 yards on 27 carries. He also scored twice, once on the ground and once through the air. 

► Evangel kicker, Derek Roberts (Springfield, Mo./Glendale HS) also ranks in the top five nationally in field goals as he has made 10 so far this year. He ranks third in the conference having made 66 percent and is also a perfect 27-of-27 on extra point attempts this season.
