MARSHALL, Mo. – The battle of Top 25 teams continued for the Evangel football team as they fell 51-3 to No. 9 Missouri Valley in Heart action Saturday. 

After building a 10-0 lead in the first quarter the Vikings were able to score four times in the second quarter taking a 45-0 lead into the locker room at halftime. Missouri Valley finished with over 500 yards of total offense as the Crusaders struggled with just 145 yards. 

Evangel recovered two fumbles and picked off MVC once, however, Kenny Sanford tallied 133 yards rushing to help the Vikings in Saturday's win. 

Defensively, Devon Overall led the Crusaders with 11 tackles while Josh Evans added to his league leading sack total with one sack and six tackles.

Evangel returns to Tiger Stadium for its regular season finale against Avila. The game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN3 as the Heart Game of the Week. The Crusaders will also honor its seniors before the game as kickoff is set for 11 a.m.
