Crusaders face #6 Grand View on the road: Evangel goes on the road to face 6th ranked Grand View in Des Moines, Iowa on Saturday.
The Crusaders are coming off of a 25-20 win at home over Peru State and are 1-1 so far this season. Evangel started the year with a 24-14 loss at 25th ranked Benedictine.
Grand View is 1-1 and ranked 6th nationally in the NAIA. The Vikings were upended in their season opener 20-15 by Baker in Des Moines but followed that with a 27-8 win at Central Methodist last week. Grand View won the 2013 NAIA national championship and last season went 10-2 advancing to the quarterfinal round of the NAIA National Championship Series. The Vikings are only in their eighth season of intercollegiate football.
Saturday's game will be the first ever meeting between the Crusaders football program and Grand View. The Vikings are in their first year as a Heart of America conference member.
The match-up is Evangel's third straight game against a team from the Northern Division. Only games within the division count in the league standings. Intra-divisional games in the league begin October 17.
Gunning for 200 wins: A win will give Evangel their 200th victory in program history. The Crusaders football program was established in 1977 and the team has gone 199-192-3 in their history. Evangel has gone 142-99-1 all-time in Heart of America conference games.
