Softball splits with Culver-Stockton

Canton, Mo.  – Evangel split a doubleheader at Culver-Stockton on Friday falling in game one 7-4 and winning game two 8-2. 

Evangel could not overcome an early deficit in a 7-4 loss in game one to Culver-Stockton. The Crusaders trailed 7-1 before Evangel added a run in the fifth and two runs in the seventh. Kasie Zukow went 2 for 3 with 3 runs batted in with a double and she was hit by a pitch. 

The Crusaders banged out 16 hits on their way to an 8-2 win in game two of the doubleheader at Culver-Stockton. Evangel starter Julie Blevins held the Wildcats to four hits while allowing two runs with two hits and two strikeouts. Evangel's Cailtlin Buckalew went 4 for 5 with a run, three RBI's and a double. Kiara Carrier had three hits with two RBI's. 

Evangel moved their record to 20-13 and ended their Heart of America conference season at 11-7. Culver-Stockton went to 14-24 and 4-14 in the conference. 

The Crusaders end the regular season Saturday with a home doubleheader against Ecclesia (Ark.). Game one starts at 1 p.m. After the game, Evangel will honor their senior players.
