Valor Baseball Plays Host to Sterling for KCAC Series on Thursday & Friday

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Evangel Baseball returns home on Thursday and Friday (Apr. 2/3) afternoons, hosting the Sterling College Warriors for a KCAC series in Springfield.

First pitch for Thursday's nine-inning matchup is set for 3:00 p.m., while Friday's doubleheader will begin at 11:00 a.m. from University Field.

SERIES HISTORY

Evangel trails the Warriors in the all-time series, 2-4, and has lost four straight in the series, including being swept on the road last season, 9-1, 12-5, and 11-8.

OPENING STORYLINES

  • Evangel is currently 17-17 this season, as the Valor are coming off a road conference loss to Oklahoma Wesleyan, 19-9.

  • The Valor are currently in a three-way tie for seventh place with Sterling and York, as all teams sit at 11-11 in conference play.

  • Quentin Edwards leads the Valor at the plate with a batting average of .427, as well as 11 home runs (tied 3rd most in single season at EU) and 42 RBIs.

  • Justus Cherrico currently holds a .416 batting average, the second highest on the team and is tied with Evan Jno-Baptiste for the second most home runs on the team, both with six.

  • Heath Perry has drawn a team high 22 walks so far this season.

  • Riley Fuller leads EU in innings pitched (42.0), while Mason Reilly leads the Valor in ERA (2.93).

  • Kannon Perry currently holds the single season school record for most times being hit by pitch, sitting at 15. Nate Nunes sits just behind Perry with 13 so far this year.
