Evangel Baseball Travels to Avila for First Road Conference Series

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Evangel Baseball travels to Kansas City, Mo., on Friday and Saturday (Mar. 7/8) afternoon, taking on the Avila Eagles in their first road conference series of the season.

The Valor will take on the Eagles at 2:00 p.m. on Friday and noon on Saturday for a doubleheader.

SERIES HISTORY

Evangel is 18-41 all-time against the Eagles, having gone 1-2 against the conference foe last season at home. EU fell in game one and game two last season, 12-8 and 13-8, but were victorious in game three, 11-8.

OPENING STORYLINES

  • Evangel is coming off a 2-1 weekend against the Bethany Swedes, their first conference wins of 2025. The Valor took on Mission on Monday, falling in a 12-inning battle, 10-9.

  • Evangel is currently led at the plate by Quentin Edwards, who currently boasts a .468 batting average, 21 RBIs, and four home runs.

  • Shane Poe leads the Valor with 17 runs scored so far this season.

  • Wyatt Keplar leads EU in innings pitched, currently with 23.2 this year, as well as strikeouts with 31.

  • Hayden Larson has also been strong pitching this season for Evangel. Larson currently boasts a 3.12 ERA and 25 strikeouts over just 17.1 innings.

  • Evan Baptiste, Kannon Perry, and Poe all have been perfect from their position, not recording a single error on the year as Evangel has committed less errors than their opponents. 30-29.

LOOKING AHEAD

Evangel Baseball travels to Wichita, Kan., on Tuesday (Mar. 11) afternoon, taking on the Friends Falcons at noon for a doubleheader matchup.
