MARYVILLE, Mo. – Valor Track and Field opened their 2024-25 indoor season on Saturday (Dec. 7) afternoon at the Mel Tjeerdsma Classic, looking to open their season on a high note and begin to earn national qualifiers for the national meet in late February.
Delaney Miller highlighted the meet for the Valor women, as the graduate transfer hit the NAIA "A" standard in the high jump and placed first, hitting a mark of 1.68 meters to qualify for the national meet in the first meet of the season. Abby Beets also had a strong meet for the Valor, placing first in the pole vault, while Delaney Weimer placed fifth in the 200 meter dash.
Devyn Wright highlighted the meet for the Valor men, also qualifying for the national meet with his performance in the 200 meter dash, placing 3rd with a time of 21.62 seconds to break the school record, previously held by Ed Sands (6.93 '09). Wright also placed first in the 60 meter dash with a time of 6.91 seconds in Saturday's meet, also breaking the school record, previously held by Brian Hartzler (22.13 '06). Trenton Braswell also had a strong meet, placing third in the weight throw with a mark of 54-1.25 yards to break the school record, previously held by Alex Richardson (53-3.75 '24).

Evangel Track and Field will travel to Nebraska next Friday (Dec. 13) to compete at the Husker Holiday Open in Lincoln at the University of Nebraska.
