SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – After splitting day one of the four game series against Central Methodist, Valor Baseball concluded the series, looking to win or split with two games on Saturday.
Game one was a tightly contested match between the two teams until the final inning when the Eagles pulled away with a six run top of the seventh, taking a 10-3 win. The Central Methodist bats came alive in game two as the Eagles scored 19 runs and shut out the Valor, 19-0.

Brooks Espy went 4-5 from the plate throughout the second day, leading the team.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Neither Evangel nor Central Methodist could string much offense in the first three innings, as both teams entered the fourth inning in a scoreless tie.

The Eagles scored three runs to open the top of the fourth, but the Valor would respond with two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning. Eli Cook singled to the shortstop, followed by a Bro. Espy single to right center that advanced Cook to third. Cook scored after on a wild pitch and Holton Simmons came in to run for Espy, scoring on a Brennan Espy single to make it a 3-2 game.

CMU scored a run in the top of the sixth and six runs in the top of the seventh to take a 10-2 lead.

Evangel scored a run in the bottom of the seventh after Carson Sturdefant got on base via error and Levi Loughridge double to score Sturdefant, but EU could not generate any additional runs, falling 10-3 in game one.

The Eagles scored four runs to open game two, taking an early 4-0 lead.

Of Evangel's four hits in the game, the Valor were able to open the game with two hits from Athanie Leeviraphan and Bro. Espy, but were not able to score a run.

Cook singled in the bottom of the second and Simmons singled in the bottom of the third, but the Valor could not score either runner as they ultimately went hitless over the final four innings, falling 19-0.
