SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Valor Baseball began their final four game series of the season on Friday (Apr. 28) afternoon, taking on the Baker Wildcats.
In game one, the Valor and Wildcats played a close game, but Baker used a 10-run seventh inning to put the game out of reach, taking a 15-1 victory. Evangel scored early in game two, but a three run Baker fourth inning hurt the Valor chances at taking the win, as they fell, 5-2.
HIGHLIGHTS

Athanie Leeviraphan went 4-6 from the plate on Friday, hitting a home run and three singles, and earning two runs, two RBIs, and two walks.

The Valor pitching staff recorded 14 combined strikeouts on Friday.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Baker scored two runs in the top of the third, a run in the top of the fourth, and another pair of runs in the top of the sixth to take a 5-0 lead on Evangel.

In the bottom of the sixth, Evangel's Leeviraphan hit a lead-off solo home run to narrow the Wildcats lead to just four runs, 5-1.

Baker flipped a switch in the top of the seventh, scoring 10 runs and expanding their lead to 14 runs, 15-1, as Evangel was unable to score any additional runs, falling to the Wildcats in game one.

In game two, Evangel scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the second inning. Carson Sturdefant walked and a Jeremy Vickers single advanced Sturdefant to second base. Leeviraphan singled through the left side, scoring Sturdefant and giving the Valor a 1-0 lead.

Baker scored five unanswered runs over the following four innings to take a 5-1 lead over Evangel.

The Valor were able to generate additional offense in the bottom of the seventh inning. Leeviraphan worked a walk and a Brennan Espy single moved him to second. Leeviraphan advanced to third on a passed ball and an Arly Miller sacrifice fly scored Leeviraphan, making it a 5-2 ball game. Evangel was unable to score any additional runs, falling to Baker in game two.
