ATCHISON, Kan. – Benedictine walked off with a pair of one-run victories and a Heart of America Athletic Conference series sweep of Evangel Saturday afternoon at Olsen Stadium.

After Evangel rallied from a two-run deficit, the Ravens scored the game-winning run on a two-out passed ball in the bottom of the seventh inning of game one. BC then wiped away a seven-run deficit in the nightcap, plating the go-ahead tally on Jacob Pavlyak's eighth-inning single.

Jordan Yates led EU with a pair of two-hit games, finishing the day 4-for-5 with three runs scored and an RBI for the day.

Game 1 – Benedictine 3, Evangel 2
Evangel rallied from a 2-0 deficit with a fifth-inning rally that included a Patrick Gaul RBI-double, followed by Yates' run-scoring single.

But the Ravens used a Tyler Marchand leadoff single, a wild pitch and a two-out passed ball to scratch out the winning run.

Austin Dill worked a complete game for EU on the mound, scattering six hits and striking out five while allowing just two earned runs.

Doubles by Michael Slaten and Jackson Doherty propelled the Ravens to an early 2-0 lead. BC starter Luke Caruthers held EU scoreless until the fifth, when Tyler Coffelt walked ahead of Gaul's two-bagger to left and Yates' two-out base hit to left-center that leveled the score at 2-2.

The tandem of Slaten and Hunter Ostertag combined to hold EU in check from there, logging 2.1 scoreless innings of relief before the Ravens' game-winning rally.

Yates and Noah Suiter led EU with two-hit performances, while Slaten went 2-for-3 with a walk to pace the Ravens.

Game 2 – Benedictine 10, Evangel 9 (8 inn.)
Evangel broke out the bats early in game two, scoring four runs in the first, two in the second and three more in the third to build an 8-1 advantage.

Suiter, Jason Jarrell and Mason Hansen each delivered run-scoring hits in the opening frame, before Coffelt's sacrifice fly brought in a fourth EU run.

A pair of BC errors and another Jarrell RBI-single plated two more runs for Evangel in the second, but the Ravens cashed in on an EU error to plate their first run of the game in the home half of the inning.

Stephen Belcher's two-run single highlighted the fourth for Evangel, which took a 9-5 lead into the bottom of the sixth before the Ravens' offense came to life. Daryl Myers brought home the first BC run of the inning with a base hit, before Slaten's two-run single sliced the margin to just two runs. Pavlyak then knotted the score at 9-9 with his two-out hit to shallow left field.

In the eighth, Slaten reached on an error to open the inning, then stole second to set up the rally. Pavlyak then delivered the game-winning blow with his one-out single to right-center.

Jarrell led EU with two hits and a pair of RBIs, while Yates, Hansen and Kale Hynes also added two-hit performances.
