SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel softball managed to keep its postseason hopes alive with a sweep of William Penn, 6-2 and 5-0, on Saturday afternoon.

Game One
Evangel jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in game one taking advantage of a William Penn error and adding three hits in the first inning. The Crusaders added three more runs in the fourth inning to take a 6-1 lead.

Allison Davis, Arlena Armstrong, and Megan Tiede hit back-to-back-to-back doubles to start the fourth inning. Lauren Chambers singled home Tiede to give Evangel the 6-1 lead in the fourth inning before holding the Statesmen to a single run in the top of the seventh.

Chambers finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored while Taylor Good, Davis and Armstrong each tallied two hits.

Bridget Rippe earned the win to improve to 6-8 on the season allowing six hits and two runs in seven innings. Just one of the runs were earned as she struck out three and walked none in the victory.

Game Two
Another solid pitching performance helped Evangel shutout William Penn, 5-0, in game two.

Abby Emmitt allowed just three hits and struck out a season-high 15 batters. It was her first shutout of the season as she won her ninth game of her freshman season.

Evangel scored three runs in the third inning and added two more in the fifth inning to build its lead.

Taylor Kister finished 3-for-3 with a double, a triple, and three RBIs. Hannah Trabucco and Ashlie Marshall each tallied two hits as Trabucco scored twice on her senior day.
