SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Evangel University men's soccer team was able to hold off Williams Baptist with a 2-0 victory Saturday in non-conference action.
The Crusaders got on the board in the 13th minute on a Kyler Moore penalty kick. Evangel would take the 1-0 lead into intermission despite the Eagles outshooting the Crusaders 12-2.
Caleb Rodriguez would score his second goal of the season in the 58th minute at the top of the box off an assist from Travis Joy. The assist was Joy's first of the year.
Williams Baptist finished with 10 shots on goal while the Crusaders finished with three while their defense held tough in the win. Evangel goal keeper, Ryan Harrisskitt finished with nine saves to earn the win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Kyler Moore scored his third goal of the season on just two shots on goal in the match.
- The shutout for Evangel was the first since restarting the program last season.
- With Moore and Rodriguez's goals, four different Crusaders have scored multiple goals this season.
