HILLSBORO, Kan. – Evangel Men's Soccer traveled to Hillsboro, Kansas, on Saturday (Nov. 1) evening, looking to make history and earn a positive result to clinch a spot in the KCAC Conference Tournament for the first time in program history. The Valor would do just that, scoring early and earning a 1-1 draw with the Tabor College Bluejays, earning the final seed in the conference tournament, making history for the Evangel Men's Soccer program.
Despite Tabor opening the game up with several shots and a pair of corner kicks, it would be freshman Hayes Van Breusegen who opened scoring, placing a goal on a corner from Sebastian Molina to give EU a 1-0 lead. The Valor offense would not stop there, continuing to record shots on goal and keeping pressure on the Tabor backline. The Bluejays would ultimately find the back of the net in the 39th minute, tying the game up at 1-1, heading into the halftime break.
Both teams continued to pressure each respective goalkeeper, continuing to put shots on goal, but both defenses were up to the challenge, as neither team was able to add any additional offense to the scoreboard. Andrea Fincato would end up with the final opportunity in the match on a free kick, but his shot went high, as both teams fought to a 1-1 draw on Saturday.
