Evangel swept at Baker to open four game series

Baldwin City, Kan. – Baker came from behind to win in the bottom of the seventh inning of game one 6-5 then cruised past Evangel in game two 15-2 as the Wildcats swept the Crusaders in a doubleheader Friday in Baldwin City, Kansas. 

Baker rallied with three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat Evangel 6-5 in game one. The Wildcats loaded the bases with one out and tied the game when Austin Bass tied the game drawing a walk. Wes Summers' single to left field then drove in the winning run. Stevin Cisneros and Darin Francis both had three hits for Evangel with Cisneros scoring twice and driving in a run. 

Baker scored four runs in each of the first three innings of game two. Evangel was credited for eight errors in the game resulting in seven unearned runs for Baker. The Crusaders were held to only four hits but Kyle Thurman managed a 1 for 3 game at the plate with a walk, a double and an RBI. 

The losses drops Evangel to 13-34 and 5-21 in the Heart of America conference. Baker improves to 21-23 and 15-11 in the league. 

The four game series concludes tomorrow with a doubleheader at Baker. The first pitch for game one is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Baldwin City, Kansas.
