SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Evangel Volleyball hosted the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes on Saturday (Sept. 26) afternoon, looking to build off their win on Wednesday night against Avila. The Valor would use a dominant .226 attacking percentage to take a sweep of the Coyotes, 3-0.
The Valor jumped out to a large lead in the first set and never looked back against Kansas Wesleyan, as Evangel took advantage of several Coyote attacking errors and used kills from Cienna Turner and Charlotte Hawkins to push to a 25-19 win.
Evangel dominated set two, swinging .370 in the set with 14 kills and just four attacking errors. Despite trailing 10-6 in the set, the Valor closed the period on a 19-4 run, as Jessica Pritchett helped end the set with four kills in a 25-14 win.
It appeared Evangel and Kansas Wesleyan would be forced to play a fourth set, as the Coyotes took a 19-12 lead over the Valor, needing just six points to take a third set win. The Valor slowly began to fight back, using kills and forcing Kansas Wesleyan attacking errors to trail 20-18. Kills from Simone Johnson and Turner, followed by a Brooke Daniels service ace tied the game up at 21-21, before Hawkins helped close out the set with a pair of kills, taking a 25-23 win and sweep of KWU.
