BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – Evangel Volleyball hit the road on Wednesday (Sept. 16) evening, taking on the Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles in their second KCAC matchup of the season. Evangel battled on Wednesday, but was unable to overcome dropping the first two sets, falling 3-1 in their first road KCAC matchup of the season.

Evangel and OKWU traded runs throughout the first set, with OKWU leading for the majority of the period. Trailing 21-16, Evangel would use kills from three different players and an Addison Allen ace to draw within a point of the Eagles lead, 21-20. A 4-1 run by OKWU to close out the set proved to be the difference as EU dropped set one, 25-21.

Evangel trailed for much of the second set, until Abby Ferguson, Cienna Turner, and Charlotte Hawkins all recorded kills to give EU a 19-18 lead. The Valor would sit tied 21-21 with OKWU in set two, but again a late Eagles run proved to be the difference, as EU went down 2-0, 25-23.

The Valor battled back in set three, leading for most of the set. Hawkins kept Evangel in the lead early, as both teams ultimately set tied, 17-17. A pair of Simone Johnson and Ashya Thompson kills helped fuel the Valor to a win in set three, 25-22, as EU hit their highest hitting percentage of the match (.250).

OKWU swung their highest attacking percentage of the game in set four, as the Valor were unable to hold the momentum they earned in the third set. Two crucial Eagle runs in the set hurt Evangel's chances to rally, as the Valor fell, 25-16, and 3-1 overall.
