SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Valor Men's Soccer opens their 2026 campaign at home on Friday (Aug. 21) evening, taking on NCCAA Ozark Christian at Coryell Field with the game set for 5:00 p.m.

OPENING STORYLINES 

• The Evangel Men's Soccer program is coming off their strongest season in program history, going 8-5-5 last year and earning their first postseason berth.

• Evangel Head Coach Samuel Winning joins the Valor for his first season in 2026, coming off a 12-4-3 campaign with NJCAA Murray State College.

• Leading goal scorer Hayes Van Breusegen returns this season after scoring eight goals last year. Also returning for the Valor is Juyong Kim (5 goals) and Vasco Goncalves (3 goals). 

• Returners Jaeden Carter and Vasco Goncalves both scored goals against the Ambassadors last season in a 8-1 win.

• After the departure of Davide Marzoli, the Valor will look for a new lead man to protect the goal, with Michael Kanoa and Malachi Williams returning while adding newcomers Valentin Goity and Zach Gover.

• Evangel and Ozark Christian match up for the fourth time in program history, with Evangel leading the series, 3-0, out scoring the Ambassadors 18-1 in three matches.

LOOKING AHEAD 

Evangel remains at home to host the Mission Patriots on Monday (Aug. 24) afternoon at 4:00 p.m. on Coryell Field.
