OTTAWA, Kan. – Evangel Volleyball traveled north to Ottawa, Kan., on Wednesday (Oct. 7) night, taking on the Braves, searching for their fifth conference win of the season. Evangel and Ottawa battled, with the game going to five sets, but the Valor came up just short on Wednesday, 3-2.

Evangel and Ottawa played a tightly contested first half of the first set, as both teams were tied at 12-12. Several EU attacking errors proved to be the difference in the period, as Ottawa took advantage, using a 7-1 run to take a 19-13 lead they held to the finish, 25-16.

Set two again proved to be tightly contested, but a late 4-0 run from Ottawa after leading 19-18, was the difference, as the Braves led 23-18. Lily Lambeth and Cienna Turner both recorded late kills, but the damage was done in the 25-22 set two loss.

The Valor began to slowly battle back in set three, taking advantage of Ottawa attacking errors. Despite fighting, Ottawa was able to take a 17-16 lead after a 4-0 run. Trailing 19-18, Jessica Pritchett and Lambeth took over, using a 7-2 run to give EU a 25-21 win in set three.

Tied 10-10 to open set four, Evangel used a 5-0 run with several Ottawa attacking errors to take a lead they would not relinquish late, as Simone Johnson and Turner closed the set out for EU with a 25-19 win, forcing a final set to 15.

Ottawa jumped out to an early lead in the race to 15, forcing EU to battle from behind. Trailing 14-7, the Valor battled and were able to go on a 5-0 run, coming within two points of tying the game, but Ottawa would score the game winner on the following attack, forcing EU to fall 15-12.
