JOPLIN, Mo. – Valor XC traveled to Joplin on Saturday (Sept. 20) morning, competing in the Southern Stampede, hosted by MSSU. Both teams ran well in Joplin, as the men finished ninth, beating out all NAIA competition as Ethan Montgomery set a new school record in the 8K. The women placed 12th overall behind a 64th place finish, in a large field, from Emily Harris.
The Valor women were led by a 64th place finish from Emily Harris (19:34.29), while Anna McCune (79th, 20:07.99) and Kadence Oehlschlager (83rd, 20:12.86) rounded out Evangel's top three finishes on Saturday.
The Valor men placed ninth as a team behind a 24th place finish from Ethan Montgomery (25:05.42), that broke the previous school record, held by Shane Burns (25:07.40). Blake Smith and Nathan Hawbaker rounded out Evangel's top three finishers on Saturday as Blake placed 41st with a time of 25:26.13 and Nathan finished 53rd with a time of 25:42.97.
