LEAVENWORTH, Kan. – Valor XC opened their 2025 season on Friday (Aug. 29) evening, taking part in the Spire Sunset Showdown in Leavenworth, looking to kick the season off on a high note.

The Valor women placed fourth overall, led by an 11th place finish from Emily Harris, who ran a 20:07.3 5K. Kayden Jones was the next Evangel finisher, placing 26th with a time of 21:35.9. Rounding out top three finishes for Evangel was Anna McCune, who placed 28th overall with a time of 21:44.2.

The Valor men were able to place third overall in a larger field than the women, led by Ethan Montgomery's seventh place time of 26:00.0 in the 8K event. In his first collegiate meet, Blake Smith finished 14th with a time of 26:21.1, while Ethan Smith placed 21st overall with a time of 26:45.0.
