Camden Sesna Tabbed as Head Cross Country Coach

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Evangel University athletic director Chuck Hepola announced the hiring of Camden Sesna as Evangel's new head cross country coach on Tuesday. Brandon Staley will remain as the Director of XC Operations in the fall semester.

"We are so excited to be bringing Camden Sesna here to Evangel University as our Head Cross Country Coach. Camden is bringing a great deal of knowledge to our program and has a great record as a collegiate runner," Staley stated. "Our staff is beyond excited to see how he elevates our Cross Country program moving forward. Camden will also serve as an assistant track coach in the spring working with our distance runners."

"It is an honor to join the Valor Family and lead the Cross Country programs. I want to give a big thank you to both Coach Hepola and Coach Staley for this opportunity," said Sesna. "I am grateful to serve in a Christ-centered community and to be part of a well-established program that strives to develop student-athletes not only on the course or track, but also in the classroom, and most importantly, in their relationship with the Lord."

Sesna joins the Valor athletic department for the 2025-26 season after serving as a graduate assistant for the XC and track and field programs at KCAC institution, Kansas Wesleyan, for two seasons. While at Kansas Wesleyan, Sesna also coached the Salina Burn Track Club, helping coach over 28 all-state performers, including the Gatorade Kansas Runner of the Year.

A graduate of Concordia University (Neb.), Coach Sesna obtained a degree in Biology, while running XC and Track and Field. Camden served as a team captain in his junior and senior years, finishing as a 10-time all-conference honoree and winning the conference championship in the 5000 meter run.

Coach Sesna obtained his Masters in Business Administration from Kansas Wesleyan in May of 2025 and currently resides in Springfield, Missouri.
