JOPLIN, Mo. – Valor XC hit the road on Saturday (Sept. 19) morning, taking part in the annual MSSU Southern Stampede, taking on varying competition from NCAA D-II, D-II, and NAIA levels. Both teams competed well, as the women finished 14th overall in the 5K, followed by a men's finish of 7th in the 8K on Saturday.

The Valor women beat out four NAIA schools on Saturday, led by a 75th place finish from Tessa Lovell (19:46.2), while Lilly Brock (82nd, 19:54.0) and Adriana McGregor (89th, 20:00.8) rounded out Evangel's top three finishes on Saturday.

The Valor men ran well on Saturday, placing sixth as a team, ahead of every NAIA team in the competition, behind a 38th place finish from Blake Smith (25:42.8) in the 8k run. Chance Cunningham and Ethan Smith rounded out Evangel's top three finishers on Saturday as Cunningham placed 40th with a time of 25:46.1 and Smith finished 56th with a time of 26:02.5.
