SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Evangel Volleyball played host to the Friends Falcons on Wednesday (Oct. 22) evening, looking to earn their 19th consecutive win of the season. Despite allowing Friends to storm back in set one and take the win, the Valor took care of business in sets two, three, and four, taking a 3-1 victory over the visiting Falcons.
Evangel led 23-15 in the first set, but could not close out the set, as Friends came storming back, using a 11-1 run to come back and take the win, 26-25, after several mistakes from the Evangel offense.
The Valor quickly hit the reset button in set two, swinging .355 in the set as Sharayah Seymour helped lead the Evangel offense to a 25-14 win. After leading 14-12 early, Evangel used a 11-2 run to conclude the set.
Both teams took a step back offensively in set three, but again, a 7-0 run helped fuel Evangel to another 25-14 win in the set, as Simone Johnson helped pace the set with her strong offensive play.
In the final set of play on Wednesday, Evangel dominated, swinging .571 in the period as both Vivianna Sanchez and Seymour had strong sets. The middle blockers proved to be too much for the Falcons, recording several blocks as EU took a 25-12 win in the final set of play.
