SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Evangel Volleyball returned home on Friday (Oct. 17) evening, hosting the Sterling College Warriors, in search of their 18th consecutive win of the season. The Valor and Warriors would trade sets one and two, but EU bounced back, taking dominant wins in sets three and four to take a 3-1 victory over Sterling.
Evangel led wire-to-wire in set one, as Sharayah Seymour and Vivianna Sanchez did much of the heavy lifting for the offense, recording several kills as EU took a 25-16 win in set one.
Evangel's offense sputtered in set two, as Sterling was able to take the win. EU led 12-10, but a 10-2 run gave Sterling a 20-14 lead that the Warriors held to the end, as the Valor hit into seven attacking errors in the set.
It appeared Evangel's woes would continue into the third set as Sterling led 9-7 in the period, taking advantage of EU attacking errors. The Valor responded with a 11-1 run, fueled by blocks, kills, and service aces from Addison Allen and Brooklyn Claxton. The run proved to be the difference in the set, as EU took a 25-14 win in set three.
Vivianna Sanchez recorded six blocks in the fourth and final set as the Valor defense stifled the Warriors offense, taking a 25-20 win in set four and overall 3-1 victory over the Warriors.
