YORK, Neb. – Evangel Volleyball hit the road on Saturday (Oct. 11) afternoon, taking on the York Panthers in a KCAC matchup. Looking to continue their winning ways, the Valor would come from behind to win set one and dominate sets two and three in a sweep of the Panthers on the road.
Evangel swung into seven attacking errors to open play on Saturday, trailing 11-4 early in set one. The Valor trailed 21-16 in the first set as they slowly chipped away at the York lead with kills from Bella Wakley and Vivianna Sanchez. Sharayah Seymour, Cienna Turner, and Kenna Wise helped the Valor go on a 5-0 run to tie the game up at 21-21. York would need just one point to take the first set, 24-23, but the Valor defense, led by Sanchez recorded several blocks and took advantage of York mistakes, taking a 28-26 win in set one.
York and Evangel played to a tie in the second set, 12-12, before Wakley, Charlotte Hawkins, and Seymour helped the Valor jumped out to a lead as large as nine points, taking a 25-17 win in set two.
Leading 11-9 in set three, Evangel dominated the remainder of the game, generating a 10-0 run with Vivianna Sanchez again showing off her athleticism, recording several kills and blocks in the set as Evangel took a 25-14 win and sweep of York, their 16th consecutive win this season.
