SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Valor Volleyball returned home on Saturday (Sept. 28) afternoon, playing host to the Bethany College Swedes, in search of their third consecutive conference win of the season. Evangel dominated on Saturday, running away with a sweep victory over the Swedes, 3-0.
Bethany opened the set by taking an early 4-2 lead, but the Valor responded by capturing the lead, taking advantage of Swede errors and recording kills of their own from Loran Pritchett and Bella Wakley. Leading 17-12, the Valor generated a 5-1 run with several blocks from Wakley and Vivianna Sanchez helping push EU, as the Valor took a 25-18 win in set one.
After running out to a 5-3 lead in set two, Evangel took total control of the game by going on a 7-0 run to take a 12-3 lead. The Swedes had no answer for the Valor attack, as Bethany swung -.125 in the set, giving the Valor a 25-10 win in the second set of the afternoon.
Saturday's final set proved to be Evangel's most efficient, as the Valor offense swung .500, recording 16 kills on just two errors in the set. The Valor took an early 7-0 lead in the set and used all facets of the game to dominate the final set, taking a 25-12 win and sweep of the Bethany Swedes on Saturday.
