SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Valor Volleyball returned to action on Saturday (Nov. 9) morning, hosting the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes for their final regular season matchup of the year. Evangel looked to end the regular season on a high note and did just that, dominating the Coyotes in a quick sweep on Saturday, 3-0.
The Valor began slow out of the gate on Saturday, with Loran Pritchett hitting into a trio of errors to start the game off down 3-1. Trailing 6-3, Evangel earned kills from Jessica Pritchett and Deryan Simpson to take the lead, helping to fuel the start of a 13-3 run that pushed Evangel out to as much as a seven point lead. The Coyotes fought back after the Valor led, making it a 21-18 game, but a 4-0 run to end the set with kills coming from the younger Pritchett, Simpson, and Bella Wakley, gave EU a 25-18 win in set one.
Nine attacking errors from the Coyotes helped Evangel push their way to victory in set two. The Valor jumped out to an 8-2 lead and then pushed it out even farther to 14-5, behind strong defensive play from EU. Leading 16-9, Evangel racked off seven consecutive kills and a pair of blocks to take a 25-10 win in the second set.
Evangel left nothing to question in set three, swinging their strongest attack of the game (.389), while keeping Kansas Wesleyan negative on the attack. An exceptional play by Jessica Pritchett to keep the ball alive at the beginning of the set, leading 6-2, was followed by great hustle from Bella Wakley to also keep the point going, as EU took the point and fueled their way to a 25-11 victory and sweep in the final set.
