WINFIELD, Kan. – After falling in a tough five-set battle with nationally ranked McPherson, Valor Volleyball looked to reset, taking on the Southwestern College Moundbuilders on the road. The Valor dominated Wednesday's game, sweeping the Moundbuilders and earning their 19th win of the season.
The Valor came out firing to open the first set, taking a large 14-6 lead over the Moundbuilders. Vivianna Sanchez added a few kills late in the set to help Evangel extend their lead and ultimately the Valor took a strong 25-15 win in set one.
Evangel took advantage of several attacking errors from Southwestern, taking a 11-4 lead over the home team. The Valor defense forced Southwestern to swing a negative percentage in set two (-.056), pushing their way to victory in the set, again 25-15.
Southwestern fought back in the final set, keeping the game tied up to 11-11. Leading 19-15 in the set, Vivianna Sanchez, Simone Johnson, and Addison Allen helped push the Valor to the sweep of the Moundbuilders, taking a 25-16 win, capped off by a Meredith Avery service ace.
